The Weakest Link is back, and the premiere episode of the NBC game show had some great contestants to start off season 3! So who ended up winning and taking home a cash prize in episode 1?
The show is a revival as NBC had previously broadcast it in 2002. Though it was short-lived and only aired for a season and a half. But now as we’ve just started the third season, it seems to be a good fit for the network. The broadcaster gave the series another go in July 2020, bringing on Jane Lynch as host.
At the top of the hour, eight contestants each take turns to answer a trivia question, building chains of correct answers and building their cash pot. The more answers they get right, the more the prize grows. Though if one person gets an answer wrong, the chain is broken and the competitors have to start over from the lowest dollar amount. After each round, one person is voted out as the weakest link.
So who came out to be the strongest link in the first episode? Who took home the cash prize? We’ve got the answer for you below!

Who won Weakest Link season 3 episode 1?
The Weakest Link season 3 premiere was a special-themed episode that was all about teams of twins! “The Twins Edition” saw siblings have each other’s backs and they do say two heads are better than one. The victors turned out to be 30-year-old twin sisters Jessica and Nina. The two are from Waycross, Georgia, have lived together their whole lives, and speak their own language called gibberish. How much money were they able to accumulate? That would be $53,500!
NBC shared that the third season will have other special themed episodes like the twin teams. Those include drag queens in honor or Pride Month, as well as an episode dedicated to WWE stars who will battle it out.

Who is the original host of The Weakest Link?
As the show is a revival, that means many times the host and people behind the scenes aren’t going to be the same. And that’s the case with the U.S. version of The Weakest Link. Alright, let’s break it down for you.
The NBC series is based on the British show of the same which aired in the United Kingdom on BBC Two. It ran from August 2000 to March 2012. Throughout all the seasons, Anne Robinson served as the host. She was also tapped by NBC in 2002 to host the first U.S. version of the series.
Robinson began working as a journalist for outlets including Daily Mail, Sunday Times and Daily Mirror in the U.K. Most recently, she hosted British game show Countdown from June 2021 to July 2022.
The Weakest Link season 3 premieres new episodes Tuesday nights on NBC. Episodes are also available to stream on Peacock the next day.
